  • Who designed the typeface? The typeface “Adobe Caslon Pro” was created by an English gunsmith and typeface designer by the name of William Caslon.
  • When & why was the typeface designed? “Adobe Caslon Pro” was designed in the 1730’s but was revolutionized in the 1980’s and was used for many magazines. You will see it on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.
  • What is the class of the typeface? What specific visual qualities lead you to classify it as such? This typeface is a old style serif based off of the small decorative tails of the letters and has a greater contrast between thick and thin strokes.
